Mercy One:
Virtual Event Platform

Roles: UX Management, Strategy, Architecture

Date: 2020-2021

Live Site

During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Mercy had to suspend all of our in-person meetings and events. This created a void in communication and opportunities to have direct interaction with Mercy leaders. Working with a vendor as our development partner - my team and I created the architecture, wireframes, and final designs for a unique virtual event platform for Mercy.

What we needed to achieve:

  • Host virtual events from anywhere in the ministry, interfacing with Sling Studio, our SSO, and Adobe Experience Manager
  • Create a tiered, multi-user moderation tool for live Q&A
  • Host a library of videos for on-demand viewing after event completion
  • Provide a clear 'assignment' system where co-workers could view their assigned tasks and new videos available
  • Plan for extensibility and the future needs of Mercy leaders

01. Moderation Tool

During a live event, our moderation team coordinates and logs all questions asked during an event. The tool needed to be able to accommodate their multi-user process - where the 'Moderation Team' reviews submitted questions and sends select questions to the 'Event Coordinator' who then asks questions from the curated list to the live participants.

Additional Goals:

  • System must be able to push near real-time prompts to all viewers of a live event
  • Event Coordinator must be able to export a report of all questions submitted, asked, and hidden
  • Event Coordinator should be able to open and close Q&A

02. On-Demand Video Repository

When co-workers land on the Mercy One home screen, they should be able to at a glance access any live events, see new and upcoming video content, and access their assignments and favorites.

Additional Goals:

  • System should allow for dynamic content based on a co-workers content access level
  • Dynamically highlight and update content based on when an event is upcoming, live, or uploaded for on-demand viewing
  • System should be extensible and allow creation of new categories within AEM authoring
